It is pointed out that there appears to be a concerted effort to distort Sikh History. This seems to be by fabricating untruths and creating controversy. This methodology RHYMES VERY WELL with that of the NINDAKS OF DASAM GRANTH who are taking this very approach. VERY ODD SIMILARITY isn’t it?
The topic chosen today is a very important topic for the whole world.
Every religion has presented this concept (Martyrdom) in their own manner. In a dictionary this word has many meanings.
Likewise, in Dharmic Granths (sacred books), concepts do not have one meaning. The meaning is generally not literal, i.e. there is a mystical significance to it. The actual meaning has to be decoded (i.e. contextually determined).
There are many shabads (words) in Guru Granth Sahib Ji which are from Yogic or Quranic terminology. How this terminology changes can only be known or learnt by an in depth study of the verses TUKAN ਤੁਕਾਂ in the Granth. Otherwise we will not get a proper understanding.
Aurangzeb or Jahangir were not DHARMIC (religious) people. Having eliminated their own kin, they acted for the RAAJ (throne) and power more so than for the faith.
SAHADAT is an Arabic word the equivalent of which in English is MARTYRDOM. It is related to bearing witness, proof/evidence of a prophet/faith. The concept of DHARAM YUD righteous or religious war exists in every faith but SAHADAT started from SAMI tradition. Prophets are sent by God.
In the Christian Faith the PAAK RU ਪਾਕ ਰੂ holy spirit is considered a martyr. The martyrdom was to maintain the principles of faith akin to bearing witness to the sanctity of faith. The concept of SAHEEDEE martyrdom starts in Christian Faith. Martyrdom is remembered in their ARDAS prayer. The martyrs will get JEEVAN MUKT salvation and will go direct to DARGAH divine court or heaven and RAB DAY HOG AE become one with God. They have relics and names of martyrs from the 2nd century. Jesus was a SAHADAT martyr and was crucified. Crucifixion has become a symbol of martyrdom.
In the Jewish faith on the other hand crucifixion is considered APSAGUN a bad omen.
It is important to note that for one martyr, the Christians took the martyrdom SEENAY NAL LAGA LAEE to heart and ruled the world.
Reflect on DHARAM DI LARDAEE the war of faith or righteousness. Note that the Muslims are fighting amongst themselves, as the Christians were involved in wars with Christians. These are SIASTEE LARDAEE political war not a war of faith or righteousness. The purpose is to acquire land or for supressing one another.
Martyrs, from the spiritual perspective, are those who are connected to God, die for the faith. These martyrs, SAHADATS bear testimony to God in giving up their life, always recite the NAME of God, SIFT SALAH praise God.
In the history of Hindustan, the first SAHEED was Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The concept of DHARAM YUD righteous/religious war existed but not the concept of SAHADAT martyrdom before this.
The SAHEED martyrs, are the PARMANIC SROT ਸਰੋਤ authentic divine source; hence the attack on the faith starts with them.
For example the SAHEEDEE of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, being attributed partly to Chandu Shah, was disputed by Sushma Swaraj (see here) during the 4th centenary martyrdom of Guru Ji. Her statements were supported by a group of Sikhs. Another group in Delhi said the SAHEEDEE was not the fault of Jahangir. (note the effort to distort historical facts)
The reason given was that Jahangir acted only on reports from Shaikh Ahmed Sirhindi. On this mattter, note the question that arises is that the same thing was happening during Akhbar’s time but Akhbar did not heed to the reports. Akhbar knew that the reports were due to jealousy and ill-will. Jahangir, on the other hand, heeded to such reports which were also due to jealousy and ill-will. To establish his RAAJ throne, Jahangir undid what Akhbar had done. (this shows the attempt to distort historical fact by fabricating untruths)
As for Chandu Shah, he executed the orders from Jahangir, a fine of 2 LAKH RUPEES and confiscation of all the property, and he took custody of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. He was the one who gave the ਤਸਦੀਕ confirmation (to punish Guru Ji) according to all historical records. Madam Sushma quoted Principal Satbir in her defence of Chandu but Principal Satbir has not written this anywhere. When a controversy is brought up, many CHAMCHAY sycophants will generally say that the controversy is confirmed through history. (again this shows the attempt to distort historical fact by fabricating untruths)
Political people, who are not conversant with history should refrain from creating a controversy on religious people or their history.
On this matter note that the infamous Operation Blue Star of 1984 was conducted during the period of Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s SAHEEDI GURPURAB. This was a SAHADAT martyrdom. Those who gave their life fighting were SAHEEDS martyrs unlike others who surrendered and were given safe passage elsewhere.
A similar thing happened, rejection of historical information, in relation to Guru Teg Bhadur Ji’s SAHEEDEE. (more fabricating of untruths) This was that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was not martyred protecting the Hindu Faith. Professors, given incentives, were made to reflect that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was a political rebel through papers falsifying history to reflect this. One of them even stated that the facts presented in Bachittar Natak were incorrect (see Figure 1). (fabrication of more untruths – wouldn’t this also be the reason for the present strong push that Dasam Granth was not composed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji?)

This claim surfaced 10 years after Dr Trilochan (Dr Anurag’s father) had written a book reflecting the historical facts around Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s SAHEEDEE (see extract Figures 2 to 4). The work, by Dr Fauja Singh, was to discredit the historical facts (see Figure 5) related to the SAHEEDEE of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji also related in Dr Trilochan Singh’s book. A further book by Dr Fauja Singh as co-author “Guru Teg Bahadur Martyr and Teacher” also penned three arrests of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The dates stated for the two false scenarios of the arrest, do not agree with historical records. The third was the same as reflected in historical records. These scholars are falsifying history from “thin air” using non-credible records from BHATT VAHIAN. Another book edited by Dr Kirpal Singh and Dr Kharak Singh published by USGPC is another source of falsification. (This appears an attempt to cause controversy and confusion by including two false scenarios).

The system of SAHADAT does not end here. Guru Gobind Singh Ji sacrificed his father, mother, children and everything for the faith. This is SAHADAT martyrdom.
Three others with Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, were also SAHEEDS for DHARMIC religious purposes.
Banda Bahadur on the other hand was a SAHEED for POLITICAL reasons; just like the SAHEEDI of the Sikhs who were put on the torture wheel which was also politically motivated.
The war for political reasons has been ਨਿਰੰਤਰ continuously going on and will go on. The causes of the political war rests on the forces of
- ਬਿਬੇਕ wisdom and ਅਬਿਬੇਕ without wisdom,
- Gurmukh and Manmukh,
- SUR angel and ASUR demon.
