MOORAKHS JAGIR SINGH MGC PRESIDENT AND HIS ASSOCIATE SANTOKH FROM KDM DISPLAY THEIR IGNORANCE ABOUT THE REHAT MARYADA AGAIN

Jagir (President KGC) and Santokh (President KDM) accuse WORLD RENOWN GURMAT KATHAKAR Bhai Sukha Singh of UK of having BLASPHEMOUS AND DEVIANT views

They make this accusation because in their words “Bhai Sukha Singh has at a Gurdwara in Burmingham

  1. placed B.N. (Dasam Granth) on par with our Eternal Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
  2. conducts “Arti – Aarta” of SGGS and the BN (DG) where both are placed on par and side by side
  3. carries out an annual Path of the B.N. (DG) and
  4. proclaimed the BN (DG) as “Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib,” thus clearly creating the concept of 2 Gurus

in contravention of the SRM.”

Are their accusations genuine.  Do these people understand the Sikh Rehat Maryada? Let’s see.

Understanding Sikh Rehat Maryada on installation of SGGS Ji

The Rehat Maryada is a LEGALISTIC document NOT a SPIRITUAL document, unlike the SGGS Ji, Dasam Granth (DG), compositions of Bhai Gurdas and Bhai Nand Lal.  Therefore, it must be interpreted as such.

The clause in the Akal Takath Sikh Rehat Maryada Section 4 Clause (ਹ) (Page 9) relating to the Installation of SGGS Ji is as follows.

The first sentence is the key sentence.  Let us look at the meaning of the words

  • ਵਾਕਰ means ਵਾਂਗਰ which means in English “like, same as”
  • ਤੁੱਲ means “matching, equal, comparable”
  • ਪੁਸਤਕ means book
  • ਅਸਥਾਪਨ means installation (note installed means “set up for use”)

(meanings from Punjabi English Dictionary Punjabi University Patiala)

Note: Book (ਪੁਸਤਕ) is a generic term which includes story book, holy book, spiritual book, ਗਰੰਥ, sakhian, teeka (translation), dictionary etc.  Generally a bound document will fall under the generic term book.

Why does the SRM use book (ਪੁਸਤਕ) and not the word ਗਰੰਥ (Granth) or some other word.  This ensures that any document which can be classified as a book will have to meet with the requirements as per SRM.  With the ingenuity that people can use to circumvent what should be the case, it is important that the word used covers all possible interpretations of the word.  This is the case with the use of word book (ਪੁਸਤਕ).

The meaning of the word ਗਰੰਥ (Granth) is as follows.

  • is a Sanskrit word meaning book, book in prose or verse, literary production (online Sanskrit dictionary)
  • means ਪੁਸਤਕ or ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕ as per Sri Guru Granth Sahib Kosh Dr Gurcharan Singh)

Translating the key sentence from Punjabi into English we get

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਕਰ(ਤੁੱਲ) ਕਿਸੇ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ।

There shall be no other BOOK INSTALLED in a LIKE or EQUAL or MATCHING manner to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The SRM does not say that any other ਪੁਸਤਕ (Granth or Book) cannot be installed but that it CLEARLY stipulates that if installed, the installation CANNOT be LIKE or EQUAL or MATCHING with the SGGS Ji.

Neither does the SRM state that recitation (paath)of Dasam Granth cannot be carried out.

However, the SRM CLEARLY states what CANNOT BE DONE i.e. statues, or any activities not according to Gurmat, or activities of other religious practices in the second sentence.

The last sentence states that it is not improper to conduct a Gurmat related activity for any occasion or gathering.

So clearly the SRM, as a legalistic document, has listed what SHOULD BE DONE and what ARE THE EXCEPTIONS and we stress the exceptions do not include DASAM GRANTH, the compositions of Guru Gobind Singh.

This is the reason that it has been the practice to install the DASAM GRANTH on a palki on the left side and it may be lower than that used for SGGS Ji (though the SRM does not explicitly stipulate this).  The reading of the Dasam Granth is also done because there is no stipulation in the SRM that this cannot be done.

Nor is there any stipulation that Aarti-Arta cannot be performed.

Understanding what Guru Granth Sahib means

The concept of LIVING GURU is CORE SIKH DOCTRINE.

The pothi called Adi Granth became a Guru in 1708 when Guru Gobind Singh edicted as such.

In Samat 1765, 4th day of Katak month, at Nanded, Guru Gobind Singh Ji bowed before Granth Sahib Ji with offerings of five paise and a coconut.  Then he stated to the Sangat that it is my order, consider Granth Sahib as Guru in place of myself.   Bhai Nand Lal Ji in his book “Prashan-Uttar Bhai Nand Lal Ji.wrote that he asked Guru Sahib,

ਦੁਸਰ ਰੂਪ ਗਰੰਥ ਜੀ ਜਾਨ, ਇਸਕੇ ਅੰਗ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰ ਮਾਨ

Doosar Roop Granth Ji Jaan, Iske Ang Mere Kar Maan

Consider Granth Sahib as my other Roop, and don’t think it has pages; these are the parts of my body (Ang).

This changed the status of Adi Granth from a Granth to Guru as well as Granth.  HENCE, we say GURU GRANTH or AAD GURU GRANTH.  Take note of the addition of “GURU” to Adi Granth.

That Guru Granth Sahib is our LIVING GURU is a core DOCTRINE of Sikhi.

If Guru Granth Sahib and Dasam Granth are installed (parkash ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼) next to each other.  Any person who truly understands the Sikh doctrine will never say they are on PAR.  This is because

  • Guru Granth Sahib is our 11th GURU as well as our GRANTH

and

  • Dasam Granth is our GRANTH.
Bhai Sukha Singh on “Guru Granth our GURU”

In a video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gP-18mxFmQ Bhai Sukha Singh clearly says that

  • Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our eternal Guru
  • it is to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji that we must put all our hopes and
  • it is from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji we will find peace.

One cannot be clearer as to who Bhai Sukha Singh believes as our Guru.

Bhai Sukha Singh using “Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji” to refer to Dasam Granth

In another video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL_-6raMQNI  Bhai Sukha Singh explains why Dasam Granth is also called “Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji”.

He explains the generally speaking “Dasam Granth” means the Tenth Granth, may not be interpret and the Granth of Dasam Patshah but the numerically tenth Granth.  By using “Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji” it becomes explicit that it is the “Granth” by “Dasam Sri Guru”.

Essentially “Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji” means the Granth by Dasam Patshah.

He further explains reciting Arti-Aarta is the maryada that was practiced from the times of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

This clearly means that Bhai Sukha Singh does not consider that Dasam Granth is our second Guru.

In spite of the fact that DASAM GRANTH can never be on par with GURU GRANTH, it is seen in the video that the prakash of Dasam Granth is clearly lower than Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Figure 2.  Therefore, without doubt the prakash of Dasam Granth is not on par with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.  Bhai Sukha Singh did not contravene the SRM.

SUMMARY

Having understood what the Sikh Rehat Maryada states and the Sikh doctrine of Living Guru it is clear that

  • their accusations (1) and installation part of (2) are FALSE because Guru Granth (SGGS) and Granth (DG) can never be on par

NOTE: In fact, those who accuse that these can be on par actually believe that SGGS is only a GRANTH (a book of knowledge) with a name GURU GRANTH, not a GURU GRANTH in the true sense of a LIVING GURU.

  • their accusation Aarti part of (2) is FALSE since SRM does not prohibit the reciting of Aarti
  • their accusation (3) is FALSE because SRM does not prohibit recitation of Dasam Granth
  • their accusation (4) is FALSE since Bhai Sukha Singh has made it clear that only SGGS is our GURU.

Therefore, all the accusations by Jagir of MGC and Santokh of KDM are false.

What conclusion can we draw from their accusations.

Both Jagir MGC and Santokh KDM

  • are vindictive and will resort to LIES to HOODWINK the Sangat
  • are IGNORANT of the true understanding of the Sikh Rehat Maryada
  • do NOT BELIEVE that SGGS Ji is our LIVING GURU
  • are against the compositions of Dasam Granth
  • do not follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada which they covertly use to propagate their lies.

These are clearly traits of MOORAKHS.

What can we say about MOORAKH Jagir of MGC and MOORAKH Santokh of KDM?

It is they who are blasphemous and deviant.

They do not deserve to be the head of the organsations they are leading.

They will propogate their distorted views about Gurmat, something we cannot afford for the future generation.

Sangat Ji, get rid of the MOORAKHS Jagir and Santokh as fast as possible.
