Mitre Pyare Noon – Mohd. Rafi
Friends, today I am uploading first Part of my research notes from my Diary of 2004. The paper covering six pages is in Punjabi on persistent demand of many readers. It includes the following documentary evidence:
- Decorated page of Triya Charitra Pakhyan (Folio No.598) of a eighteenth century Codex, available in my library.
- Decorated opening page of Triya Charitra Pakhyan of small original Pothi, written by Guru Gobind Singh ji, and now in the Sanctum-Santorum of Takhat Kesgarh Sahib, Birth place of the Khalsa.
- A page from Damdami Codex of Dasam Granth Sahib, prepared by four scribes of Guru’s Darbar at Anandpur Sahib in 1698CE., duly corrected by Guru Sahib.
- Office Note of Giani Maha Singh ji dated January 25, 1951 on the basis of study of Damdami Codex of Dasam Granth Sahib. It clearly states that two scribes of Guru’s Darbar -Bala and Nihala compiled Triya Charitra Pakhyan and it was duly corrected by Guru Sahib with his seal of SWORD: T, the same seal we can find in all the Hukamnamas of Guru Sahib. Correction too is matched with the handwriting of Guru Sahib with original Pothi as well as Hukamnamas.
In the first 100 Charitras, covering 1841 Chhands the pen name Ram is used only in 4 Chhands:
- 18: 1;
- 26: 13;
- 28: 14;
- 54: 1.
The pen name used is Ram Kabi and Ram Bhanai.
