EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN  WATCHING THIS VIDEO

The video is a cleverly crafted video to exploit our sentiments for our faith to mislead us using Sanatan Mat attack on Gurbani as a tool.

INTRODUCTION

This was a presentation at Global Sikh Council Inc. (GSC Inc)/ Malaysia Gurdwara Council (MGC) conference/ meeting in KL in March 2017. 

The speaker is essentially basing his talk on Chahal’s paper in 2005 proposing change from EK OANGKAR to Ek Oh Beant.

The talk is essentially propagating an attack by Sanatan Mat on Gurbani ੴ.  The core of his message is 

1. attack on the design of ੴ logo (ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ)
2. misuse of logo
3. pronunciation of ੴ.

(I must state that I would not use the word logo for ੴ.  SGGS Ji, where this occurs, is our LIVING GURU.  Such references, however, are not an issue for those who treat the SGGS Ji as nothing more that a book of knowledge.) 

This topic is close to Chahal’s heart. He wants to change Ek Oangkar to Ek Oh Beant claiming that Ek Oangkar is based on OM of Sanatan Mat. (see Figure 1)

The speaker says he had devoted 400 pages to explain the 3 points above. I think he FORGOT TO LOOK INTO VAARAN BAHI GURDAS Vaar 3 Paurdi 15 which explains this.

There is no need of 400 pages THAT IS IF YOU ACCEPT THAT SUBSTANTIAL TEACHINGS IN GURBANI ARE EXPLAINED IN OTHER DOCUMENTS (Dasam Granth, Vaaran Bhai Gurdas, Composition of Bhai Nand Lal + others e.g teeka Prof Sahib Singh).

The worms are coming out of the woods. What I mean is the presentations at the GSC INC/ MGC conference are exposing the ideology of the GSC INC and MGC. This is the type of Kala Afghana/ Ragi Darsahn Deist ideology they preach.

Note that if we do not study this video carefully WE WILL GET SUCKED IN. This video is one example. It is a very craftily prepared work. Exploiting our sentiments for our faith using Sanatan Mat attack on Gurbani as a tool.

On the whole this seems to be a typical Nindak style to distort and discredit using Sanatan Mat attack as a tool to convince.

Their idea is to convince us that  is based on Sanatan OM so we should reject the pronounciation OANGKAR.  Chahal proposes that it be replaced by OH BEANT. (See the Link B and Link C for more information in this area)

BEWARE.

SOME KEY DISTURBING POINTS FROM THE PRESENTATION TO BE NOTED:

HINDI DIGIT 1 (ONE)

The speaker is focusing on the digit 1. Letting his imagination run wild He calls HINDI DIGIT 1 “१” the a leg of a cow and spends some time doing this. Why? To what end? It is a HIND DIGIT ONE so be it. He is painstakingly trying to make a NON EXISTENT link of the digit to a COWS LEG which is considered sacred in Sanatan Mat.  

Then he makes an issue of the font for Ek Oangkar.  See below the various fonts for Ek Oangkar available on the Computer.  None seem to match what he is showing.

These are Unicode fonts
ੴ = Raavi; ੴ = Gurbani Anmol Uni Lipi; ੴ = Aparajita; ੴ = Ambar Kalmi;
ੴ = Arial Unicode MS; ੴ = Ambar Neon; ੴ = Ambar Raised.

However by doctoring it is possible to get the font he shows as shown below.

NON GURBANI DOCUMENTS WITH ੴ

Then the speaker shows many documents using “ੴ Sri Ganeshay Namah.” etc etc.  He claims that these are from Patiala University.  He claims that these are Sanatan Matt methods to distort SGGS Ji Do we have to follow these?  Nothing more is stated with exception that he wanted to make a case but choose not to do so.  How authentic these documents are is an important question?  

MAYBE SOME MEMBER OF PATIALA UNIVERSITY CAN COMMENT.

DISOTRTION OF GURBANI

He shows Raja Mirgendra (of Patiala) Singh’s book “Sri Jap Nishan” shows that OM is EK ONAGKAR and EK OANGKAR is OM. He also says Dr Harpal Singh Pannu edited this book. He says Harpal has done a worst job than Ram Rai who changed “Miti Musalman Ki” to “Miti Beiman Ki”, by changing a pangati of Gurbani “ੴ ਨਮ ਅਖਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰ”. Without reading what is written in the book, it is difficult accept what the speaker is saying. There is a verse in Gurbani SGGS 929 Ramkali M:1 Dakhni Oangkar “ਓਨਮ ਅਖਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰੁ”.  All speaker has done is to zoom into the one line and state the authors are trying to distort Gurbani. No evidence is given as to why he believes the authors are distorting Gurbani. The speaker is merely stating that the authors of the book are distorting Gurbani. One point to note is that the line in the book does not match the verse in words of the “ਅਖਰ and  ਅਖਰੁ AND ਸਾਰ and ਸਾਰੁ“.  Possibly the author of the book is trying to explain some concepts in the book and the words used are similar to those in SGGS Ji.  I am not sure if the author intent was to distort Gurbani though the speaker claims this.  Again the speaker is linking to the Sanatan Mat attack on Gurbani.

MAYBE DR HARPAL SINGH CAN COMMENT.

Note that a search at the Internet did not reveal the book as shown in the video.  However there is a book “Sri Jap Nishan” is written by Pandit Kartar Singh (Dakah) Sahatyachariah in 1951 (see Link D) http://www.panjabdigilib.org/webuser/searches/displayPageContent.jsp?ID=2254&page=0001&CategoryID=1&Searched=Sri+Japu+Nisan ).
